PM Shehbaz Sharif, COAS meet President Trump at White House

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held a meeting with U.S. President Donald J. Trump at the Oval Office of the White House on Friday.

The meeting was described as warm and cordial, with the Prime Minister lauding President Trump as a “man of peace” whose bold and decisive leadership had helped facilitate a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, averting a potential crisis in South Asia.

Discussing the Middle East situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised President Trump’s initiative to convene Muslim world leaders in New York earlier this week to seek peace in Gaza and the West Bank, stressing the importance of ending the ongoing war.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for the tariff arrangement concluded between Pakistan and the U.S. earlier this year, noting that it would strengthen economic ties. He invited American companies to invest in Pakistan’s agriculture, IT, minerals, and energy sectors, expressing confidence that the bilateral partnership would further deepen under President Trump’s leadership.Both sides also reviewed regional security and counter-terrorism cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Trump for publicly acknowledging Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism and emphasized enhancing security and intelligence collaboration.

Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister extended a formal invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan at his convenience.
