ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that national economic growth, jobs crea-tion and increased income are not possible without industrial development in the country.
Chairing the first review meeting of the Private Sector Committee on National Industrial Development in Islamabad, the prime emphasized that facilitating business and boosting investment are the gov-ernment’s top priorities.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that the Pakistani business community supported government poli-cies during difficult times and helped the country overcome economic crises. He said the country’s economic direction has improved and Pakistan is on the path of development but further hard work is required for national progress.
On the occasion, policy recommendations were presented to enhance Pakistan’s industrial develop-ment and increase investment in the country. A comparative analysis with regional countries was also shared to highlight ways to improve the competitiveness of Pakistan’s industry.
The Prime Minister commended the proposals and directed to integrate them, with recommendations from other economic sectors, into the national policy framework. He instructed the relevant authori-ties to conduct a detailed review and prepare a plan for their implementation.
He said measures to ensure ‘ease of doing business’ and to enhance investment were the govern-ment’s top priorities.
Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Advisor to the Prime Minister Muhammad Ali, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and industrialists included in the Industrial Working Group led by Saqib Shirazi, attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
During the meeting, matters related to the province were discussed.
The meeting also reviewed the overall situation of the country, including key political developments.
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam, and Federal Minister for Public Affairs Unit Rana Mubashir Iqbal were also present during the meeting.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also called on the prime minister in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the overall political situation of the country was discussed.
