CM Bugti claims sharp decline in staff absenteeism in Balochistan

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday said absenteeism among teachers and doctors in the province had declined significantly due to improved monitoring and governance measures.

In a post on X, the chief minister stated that complaints regarding the absence of teachers and doctors had dropped to below one per cent, describing it as a notable improvement in public service delivery.

He said that over the past nine months, the provincial administration had held 412 open court sessions (khuli kachehris) across 36 districts, during which a total of 3,675 complaints were received. A majority of these, he noted, pertained to the closure of schools and hospitals, as well as staff absenteeism.

Providing a recent update, CM said that of the 871 complaints recorded in March, only four were related to the absence of teachers and doctors, indicating that the issue had largely been addressed.

He attributed the decline in absenteeism to timely and effective administrative interventions, adding that the overall performance of public institutions had improved as a result. He also observed that citizens were now increasingly raising other service delivery concerns in open forums.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the chief minister said efforts were underway to address public grievances, enhance access to basic services, and strengthen transparency and governance across the province.

CM Bugti added that schools and hospitals were being made fully functional, ensuring the presence of teachers in classrooms and doctors in healthcare facilities to carry out their duties effectively.
