President Zardari felicitates Russia on Victory Day

President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday extended greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia on the occasion of Victory Day.

According to a statement issued by the President Secretariat’s Media Wing, President Zardari, on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, said the victory in the Great Patriotic War remained a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made by the Russian people in defence of their homeland and in the global struggle against fascism.

The president said the historic victory symbolised the resilience, courage and determination of the Russian nation and reflected its contribution to international peace, security and stability.

He noted that Pakistan highly valued its relations with the Russian Federation and remained committed to promoting a just, peaceful and rules-based international order.

President Zardari also expressed hope that the spirit of the historic victory would continue to strengthen cooperation, mutual understanding and friendship between Pakistan and Russia.

He paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the fight against Nazism, including soldiers from the Indus Valley region who served with the Allied Forces.
