Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed deputy commissioners and district police officers across the province to ensure strict checking of buses and bus terminals ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
In a statement, she instructed the authorities concerned to ensure official fare lists are prominently displayed on every bus and at all bus stands to prevent overcharging of passengers during the holiday rush.
Maryam Nawaz also ordered cancellation of route permits for buses found involved in overcharging, while licences of bus terminals violating transport regulations will also be revoked.Meanwhile, the Punjab Transport Department has set up a helpline, 1071, for passengers’ complaints. Commuters can report incidents of overcharging by calling the helpline.
