Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume its direct flight operations between Islamabad and Beijing from July 3, 2026, the national carrier announced on Friday.
The Islamabad–Beijing–Islamabad service is being restored amid growing demand from students, business travellers, tourists and families seeking improved connectivity between Pakistan and China.
According to the airline, the direct route is expected to offer passengers greater convenience, competitive fares, enhanced baggage allowance and reduced travel time compared to indirect connections.
The revival of the service is particularly significant for Pakistani and Chinese students enrolled in educational institutions in both countries, who form a key segment of travellers on the route.
Education sector stakeholders and travel industry representatives have welcomed the development, terming it timely ahead of the upcoming academic year and peak travel season.
Industry observers say the direct flights will facilitate smoother mobility for students, researchers and academics, while also strengthening educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Tourism operators and travel agencies have also reported strong interest following the announcement, noting that the service is expected to benefit families and tourists by improving affordability and convenience.
In a statement, PIA said the resumption of the route reflects its commitment to enhancing international connectivity and supporting cooperation in tourism, trade, education and cultural exchange.
The airline added that the move aligns with efforts to further strengthen people-to-people links and deepen bilateral relations between Pakistan and China.
