ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, arrived in Cairo on Saturday to participate in the 4th meeting of the R-4 Group of Foreign Ministers, which will be held on June 21 amid ongoing efforts to promote peace, stability and regional cooperation in the Middle East. The R-4 mechanism brings together Pakistan, host Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, and has emerged as an important diplomatic platform for consultation on regional security, conflict resolution and economic cooperation. Recent discussions among the four countries have focused on supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the region and strengthening collective efforts for lasting peace.
At the Cairo meeting, Pakistan will be represented by Ishaq Dar, while the host country will be represented by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. Türkiye is expected to be represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, while Saudi Arabia’s delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. According to diplomatic sources, the ministers will review recent regional developments, including progress in diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening regional stability, while also exploring avenues for deeper political, economic and security cooperation among the four countries.
On the sidelines of the conference, Dar is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts to discuss matters of mutual interest and further strengthen Pakistan’s relations with key regional partners. Upon arrival in Cairo, the Deputy Prime Minister was received by Nazih El Naggary and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Aamir Shouket. The Cairo meeting comes at a critical juncture for the region and is expected to reaffirm the four countries’ commitment to dialogue, diplomacy and coordinated action in support of regional peace and stability.
