ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar yesterday chaired a high-level meeting to review Pakistan’s ongoing engagement with a range of multilateral initiatives and assess the country’s preparedness for several upcoming international events.
The Foreign Office said the meeting focused on Pakistan’s participation in key multilateral processes and reviewed the status of preparations for various high-level engagements scheduled in the coming months. During the meeting, senior officials briefed the deputy prime minister on the progress made in organizing and coordinating Pakistan’s participation in these international forums. The review also covered the country’s diplomatic priorities and the measures being taken to ensure effective representation at important multilateral platforms.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy, Dar emphasised the importance of strengthening international cooperation through inclusive and rules-based multilateral institutions. He underscored Pakistan’s continued support for multilateralism as a cornerstone of its foreign policy and stressed the need for proactive engagement on issues of regional and global significance. The DPM also issued necessary directions regarding Pakistan’s normative positions at various international forums, highlighting the importance of presenting well-coordinated and consistent policy positions that reflect the country’s national interests and diplomatic objectives.
The meeting formed part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance Pakistan’s role in multilateral diplomacy and ensure comprehensive preparations for forthcoming high-level international engagements. Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, Special Secretary (United Nations), Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific), and other senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.
