Govt slashes petrol price by 12 paisas, diesel by 66 paisas for 3 days

ISLAMABAD   –   The Federal Government has slightly reduced the prices of Petrol and high-speed diesel by  Rs 0.12 per litre and Rs 0.66  per litre respectively, effective for the next three days (August 1 to 3). “Based on revised petroleum pricing mechanism, issued by Federal Government, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot prices of the petroleum products from 1st August to 3rd August, 2026 “said a press release issued by the Petroleum Division here Friday. Following the decrease, Petrol will go down to Rs 336.03 per litre from the existing  Rs 336.15 per litre, while HSD will drop to Rs 392.38 per litre from thr Curr Rs 393.04 per litre. The new prices will be effective for three days (Saturday to Monday).  Petrol is mostly used in private transport, small vehicles, three wheelers and two-wheelers, while high-speed diesel is mainly used in the heavy transport sector.  It is worth to note that due to volatility in global oil rates, the federal government has shifted to a daily fuel price review mechanism. Since the new POL pricing mechanism was introduced, petrol prices have gone up by Rs 19.87 per litre and HSD by Rs 38.03 per litre.
