Polling underway in two AJK constituencies postponed by bad weather

Polling is underway in two constituencies of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on Tuesday after voting was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

According to the Election Commission, voting began in the morning at 54 polling stations across LA-27 and LA-28 and will continue uninterrupted until 5pm.

Polling in the two constituencies was originally scheduled for August 2 but was deferred because of inclement weather.

The latest exercise follows earlier phases of the AJK elections, in which the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the leading party with 23 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured nine seats.

The Election Commission said the third phase of the AJK elections will be held in the Poonch Division on August 10.
