RIYADH/ ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Jeddah on Thursday for three-day official visit.
Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Emir of Makkah Prince Saud bin Mishaal received PM Sharif at King Abdulaziz International Airport. Those who were present to receive him also include Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley; Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Malki; Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq; and other senior officials.
The visit of PM Sharif is in response to an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, according to Pakistan Television.
Taking place against the backdrop of the short-term implications of the evolving regional situation, the visit is expected to further expand strategic cooperation, strengthen bilateral relations, and enhance coordination and collaboration on regional and international issues between the two countries.
PM Sharif will hold extensive talks with the Saudi Crown Prince. The high-level talks will focus on further strengthening Saudi-Pakistani bilateral relations and the latest regional developments. PM Sharif will also perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Information Minister Atta Tarar and other senior Pakistani officials are also accompanying the prime minister.
According to Pakistani officials, PM Shehbaz Sharif Thursday departed for Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to meet the country’s leadership and discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. During his stay in the Kingdom, the PM will perform Umrah and visit Madinah Munawara to pay his respects at the Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him).
The prime minister’s visit reflects the decades-long fraternal ties, mutual trust, and close brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, a press release issued by the PM Office said.
