Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday, discussing bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the two ministers reiterated their shared position on the Palestine issue and supported a joint statement issued by eight Arab and Islamic countries.
The statement welcomed the United Kingdom’s decision to ban imports from illegal Israeli settlements and impose restrictions on services linked to those settlements.
Dar and Fidan also expressed support for a joint statement by the UK and other European countries regarding the two-state solution.
The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining close consultations on regional issues through the regional four-country forum, R4, which also includes Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
The foreign ministers agreed to meet in New York on the sidelines of the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
