Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will visit Tehran today for talks with Iranian officials on bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said.
Speaking at a press briefing, Baghaei said Naqvi’s visit would focus on strengthening bilateral ties and following up on previous understandings between Pakistan and Iran, particularly those reached at the leadership level.
The Iranian spokesperson said he had no information suggesting that Naqvi would carry any message or proposal from the United States during his visit.
He added that Pakistan, given its role in regional diplomacy, could use the opportunity to discuss regional developments. However, he said there was currently no indication that the Pakistani minister would convey any specific US initiative to Tehran.
During the visit, Naqvi is expected to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials as diplomatic engagement among Pakistan, Iran and the United States continues.
