Pakistan summons Indian envoy over killing of two civilians at border

Pakistan summoned the Indian chargé d’affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Bedian sector along the international border on Oct 2, 2026.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said BSF personnel had used unprovoked lethal force against unarmed civilians, describing the action as wholly unjustified and grossly disproportionate.

Pakistan categorically rejected any attempt to portray the deceased as “infiltrators”, the statement said.

The Foreign Office said the incident constituted a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life, and raised grave concerns about the protection of civilians under international law.

The Indian side was asked to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation, take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those found responsible, and formally communicate its findings and the action taken to the government of Pakistan.

India was also urged to respect fundamental human rights and international law, strictly observe relevant bilateral arrangements and established border procedures, exercise maximum restraint in such situations, and take effective measures to prevent similar incidents.
