Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for transforming Pakistan’s longstanding friendship with China into a stronger economic partnership, highlighting investment opportunities in the province’s hydropower, minerals, agriculture, tourism and industrial sectors.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Pakistan-China Research Centre for Party and State Governance, Kundi said bilateral relations were rooted in mutual trust, respect and shared interests.
He appreciated the role of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) in strengthening political and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Welcoming the establishment of the research centre, the governor expressed confidence that it would provide an important platform for research, policy dialogue and institutional cooperation.
Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had the potential to generate more than 30,000 megawatts of hydropower, besides possessing abundant mineral resources, agricultural potential and significant tourism opportunities.
He said these resources made the province an attractive destination for Chinese investors seeking opportunities in various sectors.
The governor also highlighted the province’s Gandhara heritage and historical sites, including Takht Bhai, saying they offered considerable potential for promoting religious and cultural tourism.
Referring to the province’s demographic strength, Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a population of more than 40.8 million, including over 10 million young people, whom he described as its greatest asset.
He said Chinese expertise and technology could help create opportunities for technical training, employment and industrial development, particularly for the province’s youth.
Inviting Chinese investors to explore opportunities in hydropower, mining, manufacturing, tourism and agriculture, the governor assured them of all possible facilities and support.
“Our vision is a progressive, prosperous and stronger Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is time to take Pakistan-China friendship into a new era of shared economic growth and development,” he said.
