Security forces killed two militants in Bannu: ISPR

Two militants belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khwarij on Monday were killed in Bannu.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 19 after reports regarding the presence of militants in the area.

An exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the killing of two militants. Among those killed was a ring leader identified as Waheedullah alias Muktiar, along with a suicide bomber.

According to the ISPR, a suicide vest, weapons, and ammunition were recovered from the site.

He was also the main handler of a suicide bomber in Bannu District on 21 February 2026, resulting in the Shahadat of Lieutenant Colonel Gul Faraz Shaheed.

The operation has indeed avenged the heinous act and has brought the main perpetrator to justice. Timely action of security forces also averted a major catastrophe.

A sanitisation operation is currently underway in the area to clear any remaining militants, the ISPR added, reaffirming that security forces would continue counterterrorism efforts under the vision of Azm-i-Istehkam.
