Petrol, diesel hit Rs415 per litre

ISLAMABAD  –  The federal government on Friday once again raised petrol and high-speed diesel prices by Rs 14.92 and Rs 15 per litre, respectively.

The Government of Pakistan has revised the ex-depot prices of the petroleum products for the next week starting from 9th May, 2026, said a press release issued by the Petroleum Division here Friday.

According the press release, following the increase of Rs 14.92 per liter petrol will go up from the existing Rs Rs 399.86 per liter to Rs 414.78 per liter, while High Speed Diesel (HSD) with the increase of Rs 15 per liter will go up from the existing  Rs 399.58 per liter to Rs 414.58 per liter.

Petrol is mostly used in private transport, small vehicles, three wheelers and two-wheelers, while high-speed diesel is mainly used in the heavy transport sector.

The new prices will be effective from today (Saturday) till further revision.

Notably, last week also the federal government raised petrol and high-speed diesel prices by Rs 6.51 and Rs 19.39 per litre, respectively, one day before the scheduled review. The Federal Government had increased Petrol and HSD prices on Thursday-one day ahead of the scheduled revision- aimed at stopping panic buying as most petrol pumps across the country halted sales expecting a sharp rise in prices.
