CM Maryam hails Bunyan-um-Marsoos victory

LAHORE  –  Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday congratulated the nation on success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, declaring that Pakistan had “crushed the arrogance” of anyone attempting to cross the country’s “red line.”

Addressing the “Marka-e-Haq Solidarity Ceremony” at the Wagah Border on completion of one year of Marka-e-Haq, the chief minister said Pakistan’s borders were not merely geographical boundaries but represented the collective resolve and emotions of the nation.

“Whoever dreamed of crossing this red line has seen their arrogance reduced to dust,” she said, adding that Pakistan had demonstrated unity and strength in the face of aggression. She described the nation as “Bunyan-um-Marsoos” — a wall of molten lead standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces. Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces, saying they sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country and its people. She also honoured the mothers, wives and children of martyrs for their resilience and sacrifices.

“The mothers of martyrs sent their sons to defend the homeland with courage and faith,” she said, adding that the sacrifices of martyrs would always remain a source of national pride and inspiration. Paying tribute to Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister said he resisted international pressure and made Pakistan a nuclear power. She also credited his tenure with strengthening the country’s defence capabilities, including the development of the JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft programme. She praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for stabilising the economy and improving Pakistan’s standing internationally, while also commending Asim Munir for safeguarding the trust of the nation and leading a decisive response against the enemy.

The chief minister said Pakistan had not only succeeded militarily but had also won the diplomatic battle through effective leadership and strategic engagement on the global stage. “History will remember that Pakistan prevented one of the most dangerous wars of the era,” she remarked, adding that countries which once criticised Pakistan were now acknowledging its role and position. The ceremony was attended by provincial ministers, officials and a large number of citizens. The chief minister laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial, while patriotic songs and chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” echoed throughout the venue.
