The Punjab government has decided to include lessons on patriotism and Marka-e-Haq in the province’s educational curriculum as part of efforts to promote national unity and awareness among students.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Information Steering Committee chaired by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, which was attended by Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani and other senior officials.
According to officials, the committee approved the inclusion of content related to patriotism and the Marka-e-Haq narrative in educational materials across the province. It was also noted that private educational institutions had not organised programmes on the same scale as public schools, and they were directed to conduct similar awareness activities.
The meeting further decided to promote national unity through media and cultural initiatives, including the production of films under the provincial film fund and a drama on Shaheed Liaqat to be produced by the Alhamra Arts Council.
Officials also approved a public awareness campaign aimed at strengthening national cohesion, while recommending continued visits by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations to educational institutions.
Separately, authorities directed intensified monitoring against hate content ahead of Muharram-ul-Haram. A special monitoring cell will be set up jointly by the Information and Home departments to identify individuals spreading hate material on social media.
Minister Azma Bukhari said no incitement or hate speech would be tolerated during Muharram, warning of strict action against those involved in spreading unrest or provocative content.
