Pakistan, US discuss security cooperation and regional situation

US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and the Federal Secretary for Interior attended a meeting where Pakistan-US relations and regional issues came under discussion.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, the latest developments in the Middle East, and ways to strengthen cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, and anti-narcotics efforts.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said relations between Pakistan and the United States are built on mutual trust and cooperation. He added that ties between the two countries became stronger during the tenure of US President Donald Trump.

Naqvi also assured the American side that complete security arrangements have been put in place for US companies working on the Reko Diq project.

The interior minister stressed Pakistan’s interest in the early restoration of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States and expressed hope for a peaceful and long-term solution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

During the meeting, Paul Kapur appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in the region and reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries on major security issues.
