ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a four-day official visit to China from Saturday (today).
This was announced by Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad today.
The visit will provide an opportunity to reaffirm the abiding strength of Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership and advance a shared vision of building an even closer Pakistan-China community of shared future.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi on Friday announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would be undertaking an official visit to China from May 23-26, during which he will hold meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
During his weekly press briefing on Friday, the spokesperson said, “At the invitation of the People’s Republic of China, PM Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China from May 23 to 26.”
During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with the Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang.
The two sides will review bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and strategic domains, with particular focus on the high-quality development, trade, investment, industrial cooperation, agricultural modernization, information technology, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Prime Minister will begin his visit from Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, where he will chair the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference on IT, Telecom, Battery Energy Storage Systems and Agriculture.
In Beijing, the Prime Minister will attend a reception hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The visit is expected to further strengthen and deepen political trust, strategic coordination, expand practical cooperation and consolidate the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
Also, PM Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan offers vast investment opportunities in the tourism, hospitality, real estate and construction sectors.
He was talking to a delegation of Qatar’s Taameer Group led by its founder Muhammed Hassain Al Ali in Islamabad today.
The PM said Qatar is a long-standing friend of Pakistan that has always stood by the country in difficult times. He said the government is taking priority measures to increase foreign investment and remove obstacles in the way of investment under the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
Shehbaz Sharif directed the relevant authorities to provide all possible facilitation and support to the group regarding investment in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the founder of Taameer Group briefed the Prime Minister on the group’s ongoing and proposed investment projects in Pakistan.
The delegation informed that the group is interested in investing in Pakistan’s hospitality, hotel, real estate and construction sectors, and work on several projects has already begun.
Muhammed Hassain Al Ali expressed keen interest in further expanding the group’s investment in Pakistan. He appreciated PM Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and the government’s measures for economic development, business promotion and increasing foreign investment.
Muhammed Hassain Al Ali said the government under the Prime Minister’s leadership is taking positive steps to facilitate investors through the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
