A large-scale anti-encroachment operation is being planned in Islamabad, with authorities preparing to launch a coordinated drive across different parts of the federal capital, according to sources.
Sources said the operational framework has been finalized jointly by the Capital Development Authority, district administration and police, and has been forwarded to the Ministry of Interior for approval.
The planned operation will involve Islamabad Police, CDA enforcement teams, Frontier Corps, police and Rangers to remove illegal encroachments from the city.
According to sources, katchi abadis located in various sectors of the capital will be targeted in the first phase of the campaign. Areas identified for clearance include G-7, I-9 and Mehrabadi.Sources said the CDA enforcement wing will issue one-month notices to illegal occupants before the operation begins. Residents will be encouraged to vacate the settlements voluntarily during this period.
Officials said that if the notices are not complied with, heavy machinery will be used to remove encroachments as part of the operation.
