LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday hailed the successful execution of a record-breaking Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness campaign across the province.
In a statement, the CM said the unprecedented operation reflected exceptional teamwork, coordination and commitment by all departments involved. The province-wide campaign mobilised 184,000 sanitation workers and 60,000 vehicles, covering an area of six million kilometres and removing more than 360,000 tonnes of animal waste and offal during the Eid holidays.
Around 60,000 mosques, imambargahs and Eidgahs were cleaned, while nearly 4,000 locations were perfumed with rose water to ensure a clean and pleasant environment for citizens.
The CM said, “The success of this unparalleled and historic Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness operation is the result of outstanding teamwork,” adding that an extraordinary spirit of cooperation, dedication and hard work was demonstrated throughout the three-day campaign.
CM Maryam Nawaz commended the contributions of the local government minister, inspector general of police, commissioners, deputy commissioners, district administrations, director general of Suthra Punjab, managing directors of WASA, the Safe City team, police, Special Branch, social media teams and all other participating departments.
She said the efficient cleanliness and waste disposal arrangements, comprehensive security measures and continuous monitoring during Eid-ul-Azha had set a benchmark for effective public service delivery and provided visible relief and convenience to the people. The CM said that the entire team worked tirelessly around the clock with a shared commitment to maintaining cleanliness across Punjab, resulting in the highest-ever standards achieved during Eid-ul-Azha. She also praised officers and field teams for ensuring responsible implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and said their efforts had earned widespread public appreciation. Expressing confidence in the provincial administration, Maryam Nawaz said the same spirit of teamwork and dedication would continue to guide future initiatives aimed at serving the people of Punjab.
