Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the Diaspora Doctor Locum Programme, under which overseas Pakistani and foreign specialist doctors will provide advanced medical services and perform complex surgeries at 12 public sector hospitals across the province.
Chairing a special meeting of the Specialized Healthcare Department in Lahore, the chief minister approved the launch of the initiative aimed at bringing highly qualified international medical professionals to Punjab to strengthen the province’s healthcare system.
Under the programme, overseas Pakistani and foreign doctors will offer specialized treatment and share their expertise with local healthcare professionals, helping improve the quality of medical services in public hospitals.Maryam Nawaz also approved the establishment of a dedicated dashboard and operational web portal to facilitate the implementation, coordination and monitoring of the programme.
The initiative is expected to enhance access to advanced healthcare services while promoting collaboration between international medical experts and Punjab’s public health institutions.
