ISLAMABAD – Pakistan yesterday expressed deep concern over the recent developments contributing to an escalation in regional tensions, urging all sides to exercise restraint and take immediate steps towards de-escalation.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan continues to closely monitor the situation and reiterated its firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all brotherly countries in the region.
The FO called on all parties to uphold their respective commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and work towards reducing tensions through peaceful means.
“Pakistan remains committed to providing all support towards achieving lasting peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy,” the statement said.
Pakistan emphasized that constructive engagement and diplomatic efforts remain essential for addressing regional challenges and ensuring sustainable peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday held a telephonic conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss the evolving regional situation, with both sides emphasizing the need for restraint, dialogue and sustained diplomatic engagement. The Foreign Office said the two foreign ministers exchanged views on recent regional developments and underscored the importance of preventing further escalation.
Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue, restraint and peaceful conflict resolution in addressing regional crises, maintaining that diplomacy is the most effective means of preventing instability and safeguarding peace.
Islamabad has also offered its good offices to facilitate efforts aimed at easing tensions, while engaging regional partners through sustained diplomatic outreach to encourage confidence-building and mutually acceptable solutions.
The latest conversation between the two foreign ministers comes as Pakistan continues its active diplomatic engagement with key regional stakeholders, reinforcing its commitment to fostering regional stability, promoting constructive dialogue and supporting collective efforts to prevent further escalation.
During the conversation, Dar urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and adhere to the path of de-escalation as envisaged under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding reached in June 2026.
He stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means of resolving disputes and ensuring durable peace, security and stability across the region.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Dar said Islamabad remains ready to continue playing a constructive role in promoting stability through diplomatic engagement and confidence-building efforts.
The two leaders also agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on issues of mutual interest and regional significance.
