Islamabad/Tehran – Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Tuesday, conveying Islamabad’s determination to strengthen and expand ties with Iran as the two countries seek to accelerate implementation of bilateral agreements and deepen cooperation across multiple fields.
President Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to further deepen relations with Pakistan in political, economic, trade, cultural and security sectors, while valuing the efforts of Pakistani leadership to strengthen solidarity and relations with Tehran.
Emphasising the historic, cultural and people-to-people bonds between Iran and Pakistan the Iranian president said the existing capacities between the two countries should be utilized to expand bilateral cooperation and promote mutual interests, regional stability and security.
Naqvi said Pakistan attached the highest importance to its longstanding relations with Iran, describing the ties between the two neighbours as “strong and unbreakable.”
He reaffirmed Islamabad’s determination to pursue comprehensive development of relations with Tehran. The interior minister said his visit was aimed at following up on agreements and understandings reached during the recent visit of Iranian Interior Minister Dr Eskandar Momeni to Pakistan.He stressed the need to operationalise the understandings reached between the two countries and strengthen institutional mechanisms to accelerate implementation of bilateral agreements.
Earlier, Naqvi also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and regional developments, including progress in talks between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
The meetings come at a time of heightened regional diplomatic activity, with Pakistan continuing to engage neighbouring and regional states to support dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability.

Both discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy and the expansion of trade and economic relations.
In this meeting, the two sides emphasized the development of trade and economic exchanges between Iran and Pakistan, considering the common capacities and areas of cooperation, especially in the energy sector.

Minister Paknejad emphasized: There are various areas between the two countries in the field of Petroleum and oil products trade and the export of technical and engineering services, especially in the field of refining.
