LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said Pakpattan, which she described as having remained neglected for years, is now moving towards development, with the government focusing on improving infrastructure and public services in the district.
“Development and prosperity of every city and village, including Pakpattan, is the government’s foremost objective,” she said during a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPAs from Pakpattan.
Farooq Ahmed Maneka, Chaudhry Javed Ahmed, Imran Akram and Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar attended the meeting, which discussed public issues and development needs of the district. The lawmakers presented proposals concerning urban and rural development and thanked the chief minister for launching electric bus services and initiating various development projects in Pakpattan. They also appreciated the beautification of the city and the establishment of modern Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence in Arifwala and Pakpattan.
The MPAs said the electric bus service had provided improved transport facilities to residents, describing the project as a “game changer”. They said 15 environment-friendly buses were operating on three major routes, connecting the General Bus Stand Pakpattan with Arifwala, Bunga Hayat and Noor Pur Sial and facilitating thousands of passengers.
The chief minister directed the lawmakers to closely monitor the quality, pace and transparency of ongoing development projects in the district.
She said she was personally monitoring development projects across Punjab and working round the clock to improve infrastructure and public services in every city and area.“I am pleased that Pakpattan, which remained neglected for years, is now on the path of development,” she said, adding that the government was committed to transforming Punjab into a better province.
