PM Shehbaz welcomes Pakistan’s election as G-24 chairman, calls it diplomatic milestone

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described Pakistan’s election as chairman of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G-24) as a significant diplomatic achievement, saying it would strengthen the country’s role in international economic affairs.

According to a spokesperson, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the development and praised Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and his team for their hard work, diplomatic efforts and professional expertise.

Shehbaz commended the finance minister and his team for their active engagement during the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), saying their efforts had helped Pakistan secure an important position in shaping economic policies for developing countries.

He said the G-24 chairmanship would give Pakistan a stronger platform to push for reforms in the international financial system, promote fairer financial support to address climate change and encourage sustainable development opportunities for emerging economies.

The prime minister added that the development would enable Pakistan to play a more effective role in discussions on global economic challenges and the interests of developing nations.
