The federal government has declared November 9 a nationwide public holiday to commemorate the birth anniversary of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The Cabinet Division has issued an official notification confirming that the public holiday will be observed across the country on Iqbal Day.
Meanwhile, the Punjab School Education Department has announced that all public and private schools across the province will remain closed on November 9 to mark the occasion.
According to a notification issued by the department, educational institutions throughout Punjab will observe the holiday in connection with Allama Iqbal’s birth anniversary.
The department has also directed all district education authorities to ensure implementation of the decision.
