The Balochistan government has suspended internet services across most areas, including Quetta, for three days in response to potential terrorist threats.
The move comes as part of heightened security measures aimed at preventing terrorism in the province.
In addition, public transportation from Quetta to Punjab has been temporarily halted, and educational institutions within cantonment areas have been closed for the same period. Schools and universities in Quetta city and other parts of the province, however, remain open.
The suspension of internet services and transport has caused significant disruptions for businesses, students, and travelers, creating challenges for residents.
These measures follow recent attacks at Wana Cadet College and the District Courts in Islamabad, prompting the government to tighten security across Balochistan.
Initially, a notification was issued to ban passenger coaches and public transport from Quetta to other provinces from November 12 to 14. The Secretary of the Transport Department, Hayat Khan Kakar, later rescinded the notification. However, a new directive was issued soon after, imposing restrictions on passenger coaches traveling from Quetta to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other regions via Loralai and Zhob.
