MUZAFFARABAD – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced that the promises made to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) people would be fulfilled as their party believes in real democracy possible only through serving people with development-oriented policies.
Addressing the gathering at the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore here on Tuesday, Bilawal said the formation of a PPP government in AJK and the swearing-in of its new prime minister marked a significant step forward.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto claimed that the party’s mandate in the Kashmir region had been stolen “not once, but twice” under a deliberate conspiracy. He said that previous political decisions had created a vacuum in Azad Kashmir,
stressing that the PPP would not run the government “from behind closed doors”. He also vowed to foil every conspiracy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recalling Pakistan’s downing of seven Indian warplanes and asserting that after the May War between the two countries, Modi was now “hiding his face from the world.”
The PPP chairman attended the ceremony alongside his aunt, Faryal Talpur, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Kareem Kundi.
Earlier, the newly elected Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore took the oath of office as the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday. Acting President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, administered the oath of office to Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore as the 16th Prime Minister of the Azad government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the ceremony was attended by In-charge of Political Affairs of the Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir. Ms. Faryal Talpur, Governor KPK Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, President PPP AJK chapter Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, former President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, former PM Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, President PML-N AJK chapter Shah Ghulam Qadir, and several others.
