ISLAMABAD – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday called for collective global efforts to eliminate hatred, prejudice, and discrimination against Muslims, stressing that rising Islamophobia poses a serious threat not only to Muslim communities but also to universal human values.
In a message on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Bilawal said the growing wave of anti-Muslim sentiment in different parts of the world demands urgent and coordinated action by the international community.
He emphasized that Islamophobia is not merely an attack on the dignity and fundamental rights of Muslims but also an assault on the broader principles of humanity and justice.
“Islamophobia undermines core global values such as tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among different nations, cultures, and religions,” he said, warning that the rise in intolerance could further deepen divisions within societies if left unaddressed.
The PPP chairman urged the global community to take concrete steps to confront the growing trend of intolerance and ensure the protection of religious freedoms for all communities. He also highlighted the importance of promoting dialogue and understanding among religions and cultures to foster harmony and reduce misunderstandings.
Bilawal said the teachings of Islam are rooted in peace, compassion, and justice, and cannot be distorted through narratives of hatred or prejudice.
Calling for the creation of inclusive and harmonious societies, he appealed to the international community to work collectively towards building communities based on respect, equality, and mutual understanding. He stressed that efforts must be intensified to ensure a world where followers of all religions can live with dignity, security, and freedom, free from discrimination and hostility.
