A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad has decided to transform the existing Safe City project into a Capital Smart City initiative.
The minister said the upgraded system will feature modern solutions for traffic management and crime control, adding that all available resources are being utilized to enhance security in the federal capital.
During the meeting, officials reviewed progress on Phase Two of the Islamabad Safe City project. It was decided that work on the second phase will be completed by the 30th of next month.
Naqvi directed authorities to ensure the project is finalized within the stipulated timeline. He also announced that the Central Command and Control System will be upgraded, with integration of policing, traffic management, and civic service systems.
The meeting further approved a new design for the Safe City Headquarters as part of the broader modernization plan.
