Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday held a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Tehran, according to Iranian state media posts shared on social media platform X.
The engagement underscored ongoing diplomatic and security-level contacts between the two countries. Mohsin Naqvi and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were also present during the meeting.
Earlier, Field Marshal Munir visited Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, where he was received by Lieutenant General Abdollahi. Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional security cooperation.
Separately, the Pakistani military chief also met Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who also heads a negotiating delegation, during his official engagements in Iran.
Ghalibaf said Iran sought what he described as “genuine and comprehensive peace” for both Iran and the wider region. He expressed hope that parties involved in regional tensions would change their conduct through concrete actions.
He further stated that while Iran remained committed to peace and stability, he believed progress was often hindered by breaches of commitments by other parties, according to remarks shared during the meeting.
