Iran Rejects Claims of Sending Enriched Uranium to US

The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saeed Khatibzadeh, rejected the idea of sending enriched uranium to the United States as “non-starters.”

During an interview with AP news agency, Khatibzadeh stressed that no nuclear materials are expected to reach US territories at all costs. “We are prepared to discuss legitimate issues, but we can’t accept those that are totally unrealistic,” he explained.

The reason for such statements was Trump’s earlier remark that the United States might invade Iran and “collect all its nuclear dust.” It was implied that it is about a large amount of highly-enriched uranium stockpiled in Iran.

Additionally, Saeed Khatibzadeh admitted that there were no advances in Iran-US negotiations since it has been hindered by Washington’s “unrealistic maximalist conditions.” He explained that despite conducting a negotiation session recently in Islamabad, there is much to go before reaching an agreement.

Specifically, the Iranian side insisted on signing a “framework agreement” to proceed to another negotiating round in the near future.

Beforehand, on April 7, Trump announced a two-week ceasefire against Iran, saying that a 10-point ceasefire offer put forward by Iran can become a basis for subsequent negotiations.
