President Zardari arrives in China

Changsha/Lahore  –  President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Changsha, China, on Saturday night. He was warmly welcomed by the Vice Chairman of Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, Hu Xusheng. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong and Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi were also present on the occasion. President Zardari will meet with the provincial leadership during his stay in Changsha.

He will also visit the birthplace and former residence of Chairman Mao Zedong in Shaoshan, Hunan Province. During the President’s visit, agreements and a memorandum of understanding will also be signed between the Sindh government and Chinese companies.

President Asif Ali Zardari left for China on a week-long visit on Satyurday. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan saw off the President at the Lahore Airport. The president is undertaking the visit on the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China.  The President will travel to Changsha, Hunan Province and Sanya, Hainan province.

He will hold meetings with the provincial leadership to discuss Pakistan-China bilateral relations, with a particular focus on economic and trade cooperation and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The visit is part of the longstanding tradition of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China and holds special significance in the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, being commemorated this year.

It reflected the deep commitment of both countries to further strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
