ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) achieved a significant milestone with the successful launch of Pakistan’s indigenous Electro-Optical Satellite (EO-3) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center on Saturday.
The launch of the EO-3 satellite marks a major step forward in Pakistan’s pursuit of self-reliance and technological advancement in the space sector. Equipped with advanced imaging capabilities, the satellite is expected to play a vital role in transforming urban planning, disaster management, food security, and environmental protection across the country. The officials said the EO-3 satellite will lay the foundation for a comprehensive Earth Observation System, aimed at supporting national priorities in multiple sectors and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development. On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the dedication and professional excellence of SUPARCO’s engineers and scientists.
He also acknowledged the continued support of Pakistan’s all-weather ally China in advancing cooperation in the space domain.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari Saturday termed the successful launch of Pakistan’s indigenously developed Electro-Optical Satellite (EO-3) under the auspices of SUPARCO as a historic development.
He said that the successful launch of the EO-3 satellite is a clear manifestation of Pakistan’s self-reliance, scientific expertise and growing capability in space technology.
He appreciated the professional skills of SUPARCO engineers and scientists and said that their hard work is aligning Pakistan with modern requirements.
The President also appreciated the continuous and reliable cooperation of China, Pakistan’s close friend, in the space sector and said that this collaboration is playing an important role in bilateral scientific and technological progress.
