Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has stressed the need for continued global efforts to ensure peace, urging nations to address emerging challenges through cooperation and dialogue.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, he highlighted the importance of adapting to evolving global realities, including technological advancements and climate change.
Gilani underscored Pakistan’s role in promoting international peace and dialogue, noting the country’s proactive diplomacy aimed at fostering regional stability, including efforts to ease tensions between Iran and the United States.
Referring to the Pahalgam incident, he said Pakistan acted as a responsible nuclear state and responded in self-defence following what he described as Indian aggression and the unilateral revocation of the Indus Waters Treaty.
He added that Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership demonstrated restraint and responsibility, while the country’s call for an independent investigation into the incident received international attention.
