PM calls for improved rail safety, freight services

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed Pakistan Railways to prioritise public convenience and ensure safe travel across its network, while also strengthening freight operations to support economic activity.

The directives were issued during a meeting with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, who called on the premier in Islamabad.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over recent measures taken by the railways to improve passenger facilities.

During the meeting, the minister briefed the premier on ongoing development projects, operational affairs and progress on various initiatives aimed at upgrading railway infrastructure.

Matters of mutual interest also came under discussion, according to an official statement.
