The government has decided to introduce a facility enabling citizens to apply for passports from their homes as part of efforts to modernise the country’s passport system.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Muhammad Ali Randhawa, which was attended by members of the technical team of National Database and Registration Authority.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the existing passport issuance system in detail and discussed a range of reforms aimed at aligning it with modern digital requirements.
Participants were also briefed on the introduction of new technologies and the revision of current policies to support the transition towards a more digitised system.According to officials, the proposed reforms are intended to improve efficiency and facilitate citizens seeking passport services.
The meeting approved key decisions, including allowing applicants to submit passport applications remotely from the comfort of their homes.
