The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an advisory to government departments regarding expected weather conditions in Punjab during May and the following two months.
According to the advisory, the province is likely to experience higher-than-usual temperatures and rainfall during May, June, and July.
“Above normal temperatures and rainfall are expected during the months of May, June, and July,” a PDMA spokesperson said.
The authority said northern and northwestern areas of Punjab may receive more rainfall than usual, while eastern parts of the province are expected to get slightly below-normal rain.
Officials added that central Punjab is likely to receive normal rainfall during the period.
The PDMA has also warned about rising temperatures and possible heatwave conditions in most districts of Punjab from Thursday through May 11.
The Director General of PDMA has alerted all relevant provincial departments, divisional and district administrations, police, WASA, and Rescue 1122 to stay prepared for any emergency caused by the weather conditions.
