Tarar calls Pahalgam incident a false flag operation

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has described the Pahalgam incident as a “false flag operation,” alleging that India avoided an impartial investigation while attempting to shift blame onto Pakistan.

Speaking at a seminar on “Marka-e-Haq” at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, the minister said Pakistan has consistently acted as a frontline state in the global fight against terrorism and has rendered immense sacrifices in the process.

He claimed that India has been trying to mislead the international community by blaming Pakistan for its internal security issues, adding that during “Marka-e-Haq” Pakistan’s civil and military leadership demonstrated complete unity and resolve.

Referring to the Pahalgam incident, Tarar said Pakistan was immediately accused without any investigation, despite Pakistan offering cooperation for a transparent inquiry. He alleged that India avoided a neutral investigation because, according to him, the incident was a “false flag operation.”

The minister further stated that Pahalgam is located deep inside Indian-administered territory under strong security control, yet Pakistan was still blamed, which he said had damaged India’s credibility internationally.

Tarar said Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, with United Nations resolutions in place, and stressed that the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination cannot be ignored. He praised coordination among Pakistan’s institutions, saying civil and military leadership were aligned in dealing with national challenges. He also lauded the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in addressing security concerns.

The minister said Pakistani media acted responsibly during “Marka-e-Haq,” while accusing Indian media of spreading misinformation and damaging its own credibility. He added that Pakistani youth effectively countered the Indian narrative on social media platforms.

Tarar further alleged that India has faced international criticism over involvement in various incidents abroad, including cases related to Sikh leaders in Canada, and referred to the arrest of Kulbhushan Jadhav in Pakistan as evidence of alleged Indian involvement in destabilizing activities.
