The intensity of the heatwave continued to increase in Lahore on Sunday as temperatures soared to 43 degrees Celsius, according to officials from the Meteorological Department.
The Met Office said extremely hot weather conditions were likely to persist throughout the day, with the maximum temperature expected to remain around 43°C. It added that the prevailing heatwave was expected to continue across Lahore and several other parts of Punjab over the coming days.
However, the department forecast a possible change in weather after May 19, predicting nighttime winds and light rainfall in some areas, which could provide slight relief from the prolonged spell of extreme heat.
Authorities urged citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid heat-related illnesses. Residents were advised to minimise unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, remain hydrated and follow safety guidelines during the ongoing heatwave.
