The State Bank of Pakistan (State Bank of Pakistan) has announced a three-day closure on account of Eid ul Adha 2026, with banking operations to remain suspended from May 26 to May 28.
According to the announcement, Eid ul Adha 2026 will be observed on May 27 following the confirmation by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after sighting the Zilhaj crescent moon.
The announcement was made by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad during a press conference in Karachi, where he said multiple testimonies of moon sighting were received from different parts of the country, leading to a unanimous decision.
With the official confirmation, Muslims across Pakistan will observe 10th Zilhaj and Eid ul Adha on May 27, one of the most significant Islamic festivals marked by special prayers and animal sacrifice.
Separately, the government has already notified a three-day public holiday schedule. According to the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved holidays on May 26, 27 and 28, during which all government offices will remain closed.
