Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington on an official visit during which he is scheduled to hold talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on bilateral relations and regional developments.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh and senior diplomatic officials received Ishaq Dar upon his arrival in the US capital.
According to diplomatic sources, the meeting between Dar and Rubio is expected to focus on Pakistan-US relations, regional affairs and issues of mutual interest.
Officials said the discussions would also cover ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and exchange views on the evolving regional situation.
The visit comes amid continued high-level engagements between Islamabad and Washington on key diplomatic and strategic matters.
Following the completion of his official engagements in Washington, FM Dar is expected to return to Islamabad later the same day.
Earlier, the deputy prime minister met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York, where the two sides discussed regional peace, multilateral cooperation and the promotion of a rules-based international order.
Both leaders also stressed the importance of maintaining regional peace and stability through diplomatic engagement and cooperation.
