Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senator Taj Muhammad Afridi was killed in a traffic accident on the Peshawar Motorway near Swabi on Friday, according to Motorway Police.
Officials said the vehicle carrying the former senator went out of control and veered off the road. Preliminary reports suggested a possible mechanical fault that may have caused the driver to lose control.
Taj Muhammad Afridi died on the spot, while the driver sustained injuries in the incident. The former senator was reportedly travelling from Islamabad to Peshawar at the time of the accident.
Motorway Police and rescue teams reached the scene shortly after the incident and shifted the injured driver for medical treatment. Rescue operations and further investigation are under way to determine the exact cause of the crash.
