Mir Raza grave exhumation delayed after new medical board formed

The planned exhumation of Karachi businessman Mir Raza’s grave was postponed on Friday after authorities constituted a third medical board to oversee the process in connection with the investigation into his alleged murder.

A notification announcing the formation of the new board was issued ahead of the scheduled exhumation.

Speaking to reporters, counsel for the victim’s family, Jibran Nasir, said a third notification had been issued, claiming that the first and second medical boards had been merged into a single panel.

Nasir said the family did not accept the newly constituted board, adding that Mir Raza’s parents had already recorded their statements before the investigating officer.

He said the magistrate had also been informed that the family objected to the composition of the latest medical board.

Questioning the investigation, Nasir said the victim’s father had directly raised concerns with the Sindh chief minister. He further alleged that only selected portions of the incident’s video had been made public and claimed that additional evidence surfaced only after the case was brought before the court.
