ISLAMABAD – Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong yesterday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday and discussed regional developments and matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, Dar conveyed condolences over the tragic death of a Chinese mountaineer following an avalanche incident at Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan. The DPM assured the Chinese envoy of Pakistan’s full facilitation for the repatriation of the deceased’s remains. Ambassador Jiang appreciated Pakistan’s prompt assistance and support following the incident. The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments and other matters of mutual interest. The Chinese ambassador extended warm congratulations to the people and leadership of Pakistan on the occasion of the country’s 80th Independence Day. He reaffirmed the close and time-tested ties between Pakistan and China, underscoring the enduring friendship between the two countries.
