KP CS reviews development, governance initiatives across province

Peshawar – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah chaired the weekly review meeting on Monday, taking stock of development and administrative initiatives being implemented across the province.

Briefing the meeting, officials revealed that 69 beautification projects had been completed at the district level across the province, while day-to-day governance efforts continued alongside swift action on public complaints raised on social media.

In a push for innovation, seven forward-looking initiatives have been shortlisted from across the province, with all Deputy Commissioners tasked with implementing them in their respective districts. The initiatives include youth digital skills and e-commerce training, digitization of district record rooms to enhance transparency, the “Umeed-e-Sehat” telemedicine programme, district-level digital marketplaces to promote e-commerce, mosque health desks, a community flagpole warning system, and measures to curb communicable diseases.

On the environmental front, several districts have launched rainwater harvesting projects.

The meeting was further informed that, since June 28, a total of 274 crackdown operations had been carried out against illegal tree felling, resulting in the seizure of 5,743 CFT of timber and 35,962 kilograms of firewood.

The Chief Secretary directed that a performance-based ranking of all Deputy Commissioners be introduced in August, with scores tied directly to how effectively districts deliver on assigned tasks.

On the infrastructure front in Peshawar, the meeting was informed that work on the General Bus Stand had been completed, while construction of the Northern Section of the Ring Road was nearing completion. The Kabotar Chowk underpass is also expected to be completed in record time. Plans are also underway to green the areas around Peshawar’s underpasses through tree plantation and beautification drives.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the concerned departments, along with Deputy Commissioners.
