The judicial commission investigating the murder of Mir Raza Ali has summoned seven witnesses, including two police officials, his business associates and friends, to record their statements on Sept 3.
The commission has summoned the SDPO Shahrah-i-Faisal and SHO Ferozabad to appear before the panel as part of the ongoing inquiry.
An online taxi driver, identified as Ehsan, has also been called to record his statement.
Mir Raza Ali’s business partners, Muhammad Ahmed and Abdullah Bharde, and his friends Razzaq and Haseem have also been summoned by the commission.
All seven witnesses have been directed to appear before the panel on Sept 3.
Earlier, family members of Mir Raza Ali and Edhi volunteers recorded their statements before the judicial commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Omar Sial.
During the proceedings, the commission called Mir Raza Ali’s father, Mir Hussain, to the rostrum and questioned him about when the family first learnt that his son was missing. Hussain told the commission that his wife was in a better position to explain the circumstances surrounding their son’s disappearance.
Mir Raza Ali’s mother told the commission that she had received a call from his friend Haitham at around 4:14am, informing her that Mir Raza had deleted all his social media accounts.
She said his fiancée had also contacted her and told her that Mir Raza was not responding to messages.
According to his mother, the family subsequently checked his room and found his keys and most of his belongings there, but Mir Raza was missing.
She said his friends Razzaq, Shehry and Kazim later arrived at the house and began searching for him.
